Compatibility

These replacement O-rings are intended for many compatible vintage G.I. Joe and Action Force figures that use the traditional internal O-ring body construction.

They are not required for figures that use a different internal construction, including early straight-limb figures without an internal O-ring. Figure designs can vary, so check the internal construction before dismantling the figure.

How to Replace the O-Ring

1. Work on a clean, well-lit surface where small parts cannot easily be lost.
2. Use a correctly sized screwdriver to carefully remove the screw from the back of the figure.
3. Slowly separate the torso sections while keeping track of the internal parts.
4. Remove the old or damaged O-ring from the lower-body hook and the retaining column inside the torso.
5. Attach the new O-ring to the hook on the lower-body assembly.
6. Loop the replacement O-ring around the retaining column inside the back section of the torso.
7. Carefully align the waist, arms, head and torso sections before closing the body.
8. Replace the back screw and tighten it only until the torso is held securely.
9. Check the figure’s movement gently before returning it to your display.

Important Restoration Advice

Vintage plastic can become brittle with age. Never force the torso apart, and stop if the back screw is seized, damaged or beginning to strip. Use a screwdriver that fits the screw head correctly.

When reassembling the figure, do not overtighten the back screw. Excessive pressure could damage the screw post or crack the vintage torso.

If you are unfamiliar with vintage figure repair or the figure is particularly valuable, consider asking an experienced restorer to complete the work.
